Quad Thinking - Youth Ministry through a UMC Lens

Quad

The Wesleyan "Quadrilateral" (Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and Experience) forms the foundation of this day-long training event.

In four 60-90 minute sessions, you'll learn a lot more about:

  • How to make the Bible come to life for teenagers today.
  • The Bible's major themes, timeline, types of literature, and more
  • Basics of being a good interpreter of scripture
  • Our United Methodist Church, the connections we share, the tradition we come from, and a brief history of our denomination
  • How to reason through difficult topics with youth
  • What Wesley's understanding of grace has to do with youth ministry
  • The difference between the youth ministry leader as "counselor" versus "coach"
  • Providing a safe space for youth ministry
  • And more!

The session is interactive and contains lots of handouts. You or your team will definitely learn a lot in this jam-packed day, and you'll leave feeling a lot more confident about teaching the Bible to youth in a way that is consistent with the core principles of the United Methodist Church!
